About Nottingham Joinery

Nottingham Joinery has been building and fitting bespoke joinery for homes and businesses across Nottingham and Derby for 39 years. We started as a traditional joiner and cabinet maker's workshop, and that side of the trade -- staircases, hardwood external doors, fitted wardrobes, bespoke bedroom and home office furniture -- is still built by the same team, in the same workshop, today.
Over the years we added a second, now larger line of work alongside it: bespoke kitchen design and fitting, luxury stone worktop fabrication in quartz, granite, marble and Corian, and kitchen spray painting and vinyl wrapping for customers who want a new kitchen look without a full refit. We work for private homeowners and commercial clients alike, and regularly work directly alongside architects and interior designers.
What hasn't changed across those 39 years is how a job actually gets run. One of our own project managers is on every job from the first consultation through to final sign-off, and every trade involved -- joinery, plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling, flooring -- is coordinated directly by us. It's a workshop-based way of working -- pieces are measured, fabricated and finished on our own premises before they ever reach your home -- rather than a purely on-site trade.
What We Cover, Start to Finish
One team, every trade a kitchen or joinery project needs:
- Bespoke kitchens: Design, supply and installation
- Stone worktops: Templating, fabrication and fitting -- quartz, granite, marble and Corian
- Spray finishing: Kitchen spray painting and vinyl wrapping
- Traditional joinery: Staircases, hardwood external doors, fitted wardrobes, bespoke bedroom and office furniture
- Flooring: Engineered wood and luxury vinyl tile
- Project management: Every trade a job needs -- plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling, decorating -- coordinated in-house
- What we don't do: Hand core trade work to third-party subcontractors (kitchen wrapping is the one exception, delivered through a trusted specialist partner we manage directly), start on-site work without a written quotation agreed in advance, or quote blind -- every job starts with a free consultation first
How a Project Runs, From First Call to Completion
- 1. Free consultation: We visit and talk through what you want -- no cost, no obligation.
- 2. Design and written quotation: We agree a design and provide a detailed, itemised quotation, with no extras added once work has started.
- 3. Templating and fabrication: For kitchens and worktops, we template on site and fabricate in our own workshop using CNC router technology. For joinery, pieces are built to the agreed design before installation day.
- 4. Installation and any building work: Our own team installs the finished work, and any plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling or decorating a job needs is coordinated by us too.
- 5. Sign-off: We walk the finished job through with you and stand behind it under the guarantee or warranty terms agreed at quotation stage.
How We Price a Project
Every quotation is written and itemised before any work starts, based on a free consultation and site survey. Cost depends entirely on scope -- a single worktop replacement is a different job from a full kitchen design and fit, and a staircase or fitted wardrobes is priced differently again. As a general guide, a Corian worktop installation typically runs from around £1,150 for a small 2m² job to £2,600 or more for a larger 4m² one. Larger projects are usually staged, with an agreed deposit at acceptance and the balance due on completion.
One Team vs. Coordinating Several Trades Yourself
| Nottingham Joinery (in-house) | Coordinating trades yourself | |
|---|---|---|
| Project management | One of our own project managers runs the whole job | You coordinate each tradesperson's diary yourself |
| Design and fabrication | Design, templating and workshop fabrication under one roof | Designer, joiner and stone fabricator are often three separate businesses |
| Accountability | One company is responsible for the whole job | Each trade can point to the last one for a fault |
| Quotation | One written, itemised quote covering the whole project | Separate quotes from each trade, rarely itemised the same way |
| Warranty and aftercare | One company to call if anything needs attention after completion | Unclear whose responsibility a fault is once several trades have been involved |
Why Nottingham Homeowners Choose Us
39 years is long enough to have seen most things go wrong on a building project, and long enough to have built a way of working that avoids most of them. Keeping joinery, stone fabrication and spray finishing under one roof means one project manager can speak for the whole job, and a fault doesn't have three different tradespeople pointing at each other. We carry a wide enough material range -- quartz, granite, marble, Corian, Dekton, Minerva, porcelain and laminate -- that a recommendation is based on your kitchen and budget, not on what one supplier happens to stock.

On site, we sheet off any areas being worked on to protect them from damage, keep the workspace tidy throughout, and work to health and safety standards on every job. Where it's practical, we use FSC-sourced timber, and we're a fully insured trade business. The team behind that work is qualified to match: City & Guilds trained joiners and cabinet makers, NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds certified plumbers, Part P Approved electricians, and Gas Safe Registered installers for gas appliance connections. We're also a licensed waste carrier, so your old kitchen or joinery is cleared away legally and responsibly.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nottingham Joinery
How long has Nottingham Joinery been trading?
39 years, as a joiner and cabinet maker based in Nottingham.
Do you subcontract any of the work out?
Joinery, kitchen fitting, stone worktop fabrication and spray painting are all carried out by our own team, coordinated by our own project management. Kitchen wrapping is delivered through a trusted specialist partner rather than our own workshop, but we manage that relationship and the project on your behalf, so you still only deal with us.
Is the initial consultation really free?
Yes. Every enquiry starts with a free, no-obligation design consultation and a written quotation.
Are you insured?
Yes -- we're a fully insured trade business.
What guarantee do you offer?
It depends on the work -- Corian worktop installations, for example, carry a 10-year product guarantee and a 2-year workmanship warranty. We'll confirm exactly what applies to your project at quotation stage.
Can you work alongside my architect or interior designer?
Yes, we regularly work alongside architects and interior designers on residential and commercial projects.
Are your tradespeople qualified for plumbing, electrics and gas work?
Yes -- our plumbers hold NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds certification, our electricians are Part P Approved, and gas connection work is carried out by Gas Safe Registered installers.
Where is your workshop, and can I visit?
Our workshop is at Unit 49, 1 Mount St, New Basford, Nottingham NG7 7FZ. Call ahead on 0115-647-0254 or email hello@nottinghamjoinery.co.uk to arrange a visit.
Do you only do kitchens, or general joinery too?
Both. Alongside kitchens, stone worktops and spray finishing, we still build and fit staircases, hardwood external doors, fitted wardrobes and bespoke bedroom and office furniture -- the trade the business started in 39 years ago.
