Stone Worktops

Modern kitchen with a natural stone waterfall-edge worktop island

Nottingham Joinery supplies and installs natural and engineered stone kitchen worktops across Nottingham and the East Midlands, from granite and marble through to quartz, Corian, Dekton and porcelain. Whether you're planning a complete kitchen renovation or simply replacing tired worktops, our team handles everything from the initial consultation through to precise templating, workshop fabrication and installation.

We fabricate every worktop ourselves using CNC router and water-jet cutting technology in our own workshop, and install it with the same in-house team throughout -- one point of contact for the whole project, not a chain of separate suppliers and fitters.

A new kitchen is also one of the more worthwhile projects to invest in: consumer body Which? reports that a well-specified kitchen renovation can add somewhere in the region of 5-10% to a home's value, with a typical return on spend of 60-80%. Their January 2026 survey found the kitchen was the single most-renovated room in UK homes. Quartz continues to be the most widely chosen worktop material among UK homeowners, prized for combining the look of natural stone with low maintenance and everyday durability.

Materials We Work With

  • Quartz: Engineered from ~90% ground quartz with resin and pigments -- extremely tough, non-porous and low-maintenance
  • Granite: Natural stone, heat-resistant and scratch-resistant, with a deep lustre when polished
  • Marble: A timeless natural stone finish, templated and fabricated to order
  • Corian: A solid surface material -- 100% recyclable, repairable, and available in over 100 colours
  • Dekton: An ultra-durable sintered stone, highly heat and thermal-shock resistant
  • Porcelain: A sleek, contemporary finish cut and fitted with the same precision as our stone worktops

Design, Fabrication & Installation Process

Every worktop starts with a free consultation to discuss materials, colours and budget. From there, one of our fitters visits to take a precise template of your kitchen -- down to the millimetre, including cutouts for sinks, hobs and taps. That template goes to our workshop, where our craftsmen select and inspect the slab, cut it to size, shape the edges, seam multiple sections where needed, and polish or hone the surface to your chosen finish. Every worktop is quality-checked before it leaves the workshop.

On installation day, we prepare the space, dry-fit the worktop to confirm the fit, then permanently fix it, seal any sinks or upstands, and finish with a full clean-up so your kitchen is ready to use.

Edging Profiles, Splashbacks & Kitchen Islands

Beyond the worktop itself, we fabricate a full range of edge profiles -- square, bullnose, bevelled, ogee, pencil round, waterfall, Dupont and eased -- along with matching splashbacks, upstands and kitchen island worktops in the same material and finish.

What Kitchen Worktops Cost

Cost depends on material, size and complexity. As a general guide, laminate starts from around £20 per square metre, while granite and quartz can run £150 or more per square metre before installation. A Corian worktop installation typically runs from around £1,150 for a small 2m² job to £2,600 or more for a larger 4m² one. The exact figure depends on edge profile, thickness, any integrated sink or upstand, and the complexity of your kitchen layout -- we'll always confirm a firm price after a free consultation and site survey.

Comparing Natural and Engineered Stone

Material Best for Maintenance
Quartz Busy kitchens wanting a consistent, low-maintenance surface Non-porous, no sealing needed
Granite Heat-resistant, hard-wearing natural stone look Benefits from periodic sealing
Marble A classic, timeless natural finish Requires more care with acidic spills
Corian Seamless joints, integrated sinks, repairable surfaces Non-porous, repairable if scratched

Why Nottingham Homeowners Choose Us for Worktops

We carry a full material range so a recommendation is based on your kitchen and budget, not on what one supplier happens to stock. Every worktop is templated, fabricated and installed by our own in-house team, and Corian installations carry a 10-year product guarantee plus a 2-year workmanship warranty. Customers across West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold, Mapperley, Sherwood and Long Eaton have had quartz, granite and solid-surface worktops fitted by our team, with particular praise for how invisible the seams are and how tidy the finish is left.

Frequently Asked Questions About Kitchen Worktops

How much does it cost to replace kitchen worktops?

It depends on material, size and complexity -- laminate starts from around £20/m², while granite or quartz can be £150+/m² before installation. We'll give you an accurate figure after a free consultation.

How long does the installation process take?

Typically one to two days after delivery of the worktop, allowing for precise measurement, dry-fitting and any adjustments needed.

Are there any warranties or guarantees with the installation?

Yes -- we provide warranties covering both material and workmanship. Corian installations, for example, carry a 10-year product guarantee and 2-year workmanship warranty.

Can I use my kitchen appliances immediately after installation?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours, particularly for sinks and dishwashers, to allow sealants and adhesives to fully cure.

What is the best worktop for not staining?

Quartz is generally the best choice for stain resistance -- it's non-porous and doesn't absorb liquids the way natural stone can.

Can a worktop be repaired if it gets damaged after installation?

Most materials can be repaired to some extent depending on the severity of the damage -- we'll assess and advise on the best course of action.

Is Dekton the same as Corian?

No -- Corian is a solid surface material made from acrylic and minerals, while Dekton is a sintered stone created under extreme heat and pressure, making it more heat and scratch resistant.
